Viviana Matsuda, the Mud Witch, is a queer Japanese/Mexican artist from San Francisco. Her dad was a ceramicist and when he passed away Viviana was left with a bunch of pottery supplies. They took a ceramics class as a creative outlet to work through their grief. Using only her hands to turn earth was therapeutic. She spent hours making all sorts of random forms with no intentions. Some are chubby like her and have uneven curves. The colorful pieces are smooth or ruff, some have freckles, and are all so beautiful in their diversity.
