Intro to Knitting - Chunky Cowl
Always wanted to try your hand at knitting, but wanted a little more hands on guidance? You're in luck! Our friend Meagan is back to teach us the basics while we knit a chunky cowl scarf - just in time for cooler weather or gift giving.
This chunky cowl pattern will be knit flat and then seamed together. You will learn how to cast on the yarn to start, then the basic knit and purl stitches and how to use these to create two different stitch patterns - garter and stockinette. Finally you will learn how to bind off and seam together the edges. You will be provided with
yarn, knitting needles, a tapestry needle.

About the Artist: Meagan O is a lover of all things arts and crafts. Meagan's fiber art journey began with knitting when she first moved to Chicago. Originally being from South Carolina, she needed tons of new warm clothes! Meagan started weaving seven years ago when she took a class at Lillstreet Art Center, and now is currently learning how to blend, card, and spin their own yarn. Primarily she likes to make home goods like wall art, pillows, blankets, etc. In her "professional" life Meagan is an interior designer currently working in custom furniture, so she has always been drawn to beautiful objects. Her style is textural and abstract, typically leaning towards neutral and natural/earthy colors (though she also loves neon!).
