A Storm in the Valley Art Print

This is one of four pieces I drew while on a trip to the forest. It was right before I opened my larger storefront and so many unknown things were happening. But, I forced myself to sit by the fire and doodle on my iPad – and I was shocked at what happened. The Forest Series was born. Composed of minimal shapes, deep tones and unexpected color combinations, this is a more minimal direction for me. I feel it is a necessary pivot – to make space in my brain (and on the virtual canvas) for whatever's next.

While doodling in an easy chair, a storm began to brew. It was pretty unexpected for early September in Wisconsin. The thunder rolled in and sent deep rumbles throughout the valley where our cabin was. The sky grew dark, ominous (my favorite). Big, plump raindrops kissed the leaves of the trees. It was such a vivid moment. I was drawing this piece while the storm happened, and therefore named it "A Storm in the Valley."
