A Lifetime of Experience Art Print
This is one of four pieces I drew while on a trip to the forest. It was right before I opened my larger storefront and so many unknown things were happening. But, I forced myself to sit by the fire and doodle on my iPad – and I was shocked at what happened. The Forest Series was born. Composed of minimal shapes, deep tones and unexpected color combinations, this is a more minimal direction for me. I feel it is a necessary pivot – to make space in my brain (and on the virtual canvas) for whatever's next.
"A Lifetime of Experience" was named because of an internal struggle I sometimes have when making art. I was sitting in a chair, looking through the glass at the woods outside, and doodling. It was coming so easy! I was creating pieces I really loved at what felt like warped speed. I felt bad about this and told Seth that perhaps I should spend more time on these prints because creating them too quickly might minimize their value. He reminded me that it's taken me a lifetime to learn how to make my style of artwork, and many experiences have contributed to my style. He was right. While it may have only taken an hour to create, it took 36 years to realize.
