Lately, I've been exploring abstract shapes in my work (and less plant imagery). I've also been inspired by living in our 1957 split level, which is where the blues in this piece came from. I remember looking at images of atomic area homes and seeing this turquoise blue everywhere! It inspired me to go up to my studio and paint.

The painting's name is a reminder that the process of being an artist is ever changing. I'm very impatient and tend to bypass the process when I can, seeking validation through the final product and not the journey. I created this piece during the late summer and left it finished in my studio, afraid to list it for sale. I'm still not sure why I let it linger here so long, but I'm certain it has something to do with how I see myself as an artist. Maybe, in time, I will be able to lean into the discomfort. The title is also a nod to the difficulties I've faced in managing my ADHD since being diagnosed last year. I guess I thought taking medicine would solve all my ADHD issues but I've learned it doesn't. I'm working with a coach to improve my daily habits – which of course, takes time.

"These Things Take Time" was painted with acrylic and detailed with charcoal and oil pastel. It's been varnished for protection.
